On the 23rd of July, during the first week of the school holidays, families from Dream the Change spent a sunny day at Fiveways Fruit Farm making the most of the final days of cherry season.

Our lovely host at the farm kindly signposted us to three aisles where the cherry trees were still heavy with sweet ripe fruit. The children and parents wasted no time picking the best ones they could find — and tasting a few along the way.

We had some unexpected competition from the bees who were also enjoying the fruit. They left little holes in the juiciest cherries, and we only noticed when we turned the fattest ones around. It turned into a fun challenge spotting which cherries were still untouched.

By the end of the visit, everyone left with full punnets of cherries and big smiles. Some families even turned their fruit into homemade cherry ice lollies to enjoy in the summer sun.

It was a joyful day outdoors filled with laughter fresh air and good company. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it a great start to the holidays.
