On Thursday the sixteenth of October, Dream the Change hosted small group visits to the new sensory room in Elmstead Market, Colchester.

Each session welcomed three families (1 child + 1 carer) to explore this warm and inclusive space designed for children with sensory needs.

While the children played, parents shared stories about their children’s education. We spoke about sight reading, a visual way of learning to read that suits many neurodiverse children. By recognising whole words instead of sounding them out, children with strong visual memory often gain confidence and joy in reading.

The afternoon offered more than play. It gave families a space to connect, learn, and feel understood.
