We are pleased to introduce our new student on placement with us, Mia Miller .  Mia is a BA Social Work student at the University of Essex. We are looking forward to welcome Mia at our community group and start our work together.

Hi! My name is Mia and I am currently going into my second year of studying BA Social Work at the University of Essex, I am particularly interested in working with and supporting children and young people as well as their families to make a positive difference in their lives.

I have always been interested in pursuing Social Work as a career as I believe it is extremely important to support people who are facing challenges in their lives, listen to their experiences and help them to feel seen, heard and valued in any way possible. Seeing the difference this support can make to an individual and their families through personal experiences as well as what I have learnt throughout my first year at University has been inspiring.

During my time in placement I am hoping to be able to take what I have learnt in University so far and put it into practice, exploring things like different communication skills and how different methods help different individuals. I am also eager to develop my understanding of how Social Workers can work alongside families to provide support, as well as develop my knowledge and skills.

I am looking forward to learning from the team, getting to know the children and families as well as growing as a person and expanding my knowledge during my time on placement.

Thanks, Mia.
